REVELATION FROM THE OLD TESTAMENT PRINCIPLES OF ATONEMENT

This section lines up precisely with the 21 points covered under the Chapter ‘Day of Atonement’ in 'Eagles Fly High!'. They can be referred to there for further clarification.

A. ATONEMENT PRINCIPLES TOTALLY FULFILLED BY JESUS (Fulfilled both Positionally and Experientially.)

These first ten principles have all been totally fulfilled by Jesus, as explained in Hebrews, Chapters 9 & 10.

We continue with the second five today.

6. Once a Year Entry beyond the Veil into the Most Holy Place. (Leviticus 16:2, 12, 15)

Leviticus 16:2, 12, 15

The death of Jesus provided both literal and spiritual atonement. For the Veil was ripped into two at the moment of His death, opening the way for believers to enter into the very presence of God, 365 days a year (366 in Leap Years!). In applying the revelations of the Day of Atonement, the individual and the Church are able to 'experience’ this wonderful provision Jesus has made for us.

Matthew 27:51, Luke 23:45, Hebrews 6:19-20, 9:12-14, 10:20-23

7. Blood Sprinkled Seven Times: (Leviticus 16:14)

Leviticus 16:14

The blood of Jesus was sprinkled for us, not only on the Altar of Salvation and in the Holy Place of the baptism of the Spirit, but also in the very Throne Room of God the Father Himself. As we enter into the throne Room through the blood of Jesus in the anointing of the Spirit, so the church will be brought to perfection. All sins, uncleanness, rebellion and wickedness will disappear. Not just an impossible dream, but reality for the days ahead.

Hebrews 9:11-15, 23-28, 10:10, 22, 12:22-24

8. The Carcasses Burned Outside the Camp: (Leviticus 16:23-26)

Leviticus 16:23-26

23 “Then Aaron is to go into the Tent of Meeting and take off the linen garments he put on before he entered the Most Holy Place, and he is to leave them there. 24 He shall bathe himself with water in a holy place and put on his regular garments. Then he shall come out and sacrifice the burnt offering for himself and the burnt offering for the people, to make atonement for himself and for the people. 25 He shall also burn the fat of the sin offering on the altar.
26 “The man who releases the goat as a scapegoat must wash his clothes and bathe himself with water; afterward he may come into the camp. (Leviticus 16:23-26)

1 Corinthians 15:42, 50-7, Hebrews 12:29, 13:10-13

9. The Anointed High Priest: (Leviticus 16:29-34)

Leviticus 16:29-34

Aaron, the High Priest, offered sacrifices for the people. Jesus, our High Priest, is both priest and sacrifice. It could perhaps be considered that in His Divine nature He is the Priest, and in His human nature, the sacrifice. He certainly was both. The Lord Jesus is our great High Priest, appointed in His Fathers place, to make reconciliation for the Church, the New Testament priestly body. Everything slots together in God.

Hebrews 2:17, 3:1, 9:28

10. An Everlasting Statute: (Leviticus 16:29, 34)

Leviticus 16:29, 34

The everlasting nature of Atonement has been fulfilled in the person of Jesus, the everlasting being, who made a once only, ever-lasting atonement on our behalf. Jesus fulfilled the Day of Atonement forever.

Romans 3:25, Hebrews 2:17, 1 John 2:1-2, 4:10

NEXT WEEK: REVELATION FROM THE OLD TESTAMENT PRINCIPLES OF ATONEMENT continues

B. ATONEMENT PRINCIPLES ‘POSITIONALLY’ FULFILLED BY JESUS
(To be Experientially fulfilled, that is Embraced, by the Church)

We will start looking at the 11 principles we, the church today, have yet to fulfil.

A NOTE FROM DAVID

Thank you Jesus!

QUICK OVERVIEW OF BABYLONIAN HISTORY - 2

Around 2000 BC Hammurapi emerged as the ruler of Babylonia. He expanded the borders of the Empire and organized its laws into a written system, also known as the Code of Hammurapi. About this time Abraham left Ur, an ancient city located in lower Babylon, and moved to Haran, a city in the north. Later, Abraham left Haran and migrated into the land of Canaan under God's promise that he would become the father of a great nation (Gen 12).

Alongside of Babylonia there must also be a mention of Assyria, which bordered Babylonia on the north. Assyria's development was often intertwined with the course of Babylonian history. About 1270 BC, the Assyrians overpowered Babylonia. For the next 700 years, Babylonia was a lesser power as the Assyrians dominated the ancient world.

Around 626 BC, Babylonian independence was finally won from Assyria by a leader named Nabopolassar. Under his leadership, Babylonia again became the dominant imperial power in the Near East and thus entered into her "golden age." In 605 BC, Nebuchadnezzar II, the son of Nabopolassar, became ruler and reigned for 44 years. Under him the Babylonian Empire reached its greatest strength. Using the treasures which he took from other nations, Nebuchadnezzar built Babylon, the capital city of Babylonia, into one of the leading cities of the world. The famous hanging gardens of Babylon were known to the Greeks as one of the seven wonders of the world.
