THINKING GREEK OR HEBREW
DOCTRINE v EXPERIENTIAL TRUTH
Greek (Western) In Western thought spiritual advancement is understood to be found in theological qualifications.
Becoming the leader (pastor, minister etc.) of a church today generally requires a theological qualification from an institution approved by the church grouping one is involved with. Correct doctrine, learned through theological study, is seen as the way to get closer to God. Unfortunately though, while knowledge about God can be learned, relationship with God has to be experienced and, in reality, is often hindered through the pride that so often accompanies intellectual achievement.
This Greek inspired development is a major challenge to the church today.
Eastern (Hebrew) In Hebrew thought, God has to be experienced through relationship, which then must be reflected in one's life.
Spiritual maturity and growth comes from intimacy with God which results in doing His will in your life, even in seemingly impossible situations. For example, take Elisha and his servant. Elisha had boldness when facing the armies of the king of Aram, while his servant, without Elisha's relationship, was scared stiff! Elisha prayed.....
16 “Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” 17 And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, LORD, so that he may see.” Then the LORD opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. (2 Kings 6:16-17)
In the New Testament the same principle applies.....
13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. 15All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.” (John 16:13-15)
We must experience and reflect God's love.....
16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. (Ephesians 3:16-19)
We must experience and reflect God's faith.....
22 But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation— 23if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant. (Colossians 1:22-3)
We must experience and reflect God's truth as found in the Scriptures.....
14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, 15 and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. (2 Timothy 3:14-15)
Through being obedient to the will of the Father as related to us by the Holy Spirit we will become sons (genderless) of God.....
13 For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, 14 because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. 15 For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, ""Abba," Father." (Romans 8:13-15)
Amen.
SOME SPIRITUAL IMPLICATIONS FOR TODAY
1. We must change emphasis from theological qualifications to personal relationship with Jesus as the way to spiritual maturity.
2. Discipleship must take precedent over sermons.
3. Leadership must be determined by proven spiritual maturity rather than theological, doctrinal knowledge.
4. We must 'walk the walk', not just 'talk the talk'.

“Put your finger here, and look at my hands. Put your hand into the wound on my side. Stop doubting and trust in me!
“You trust in me because you’ve seen me,” “Happy are those that haven’t seen me yet still trust in me.”
Jesus Appears to the Fisherman Disciples (John:21:1-14)
By the Sea of Tiberius.
“My friends, haven’t you caught anything?”
“Throw the net out on the right side of the boat, and you’ll find some,”
Now recognizing Him.
“Bring some of the fish you’ve just caught.”
“Come and eat some breakfast,”
Jesus Questions Peter Three Times ( John:21:15-23)
And reinstates him
“Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these others?”
“Take care of my lambs,”
“Simon, son of John, do you love me?”
“Look after my sheep,”
“Simon, son of John, do you love me?”
“Take care of my sheep,”
“I tell you the truth,” “when you were young, you dressed yourself and went wherever you
wanted. But when you’re old, you’ll hold out your hands and someone will dress you and take you where you don’t want to go.”
“Follow me.”
Peter asks about John’s future.
“If I want him to remain alive here until I return, why is that your concern? You follow me!”

Finally, finally, finally, our NHIF approval has been Gazetted, after 3 years mind you and, since Wednesday!!!!!!!!!! Yipeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!! Oh the relief!!!!!!!!!
Now, finally, we can get on with getting on to bring in more clients to the hospital.
Here is a small queue lining uo to have their temperature checked and to wash their hands. All have to have masks to enter.
We would not have seen this previously, for NHIF should multiply our patient numbers 5x+ plus the payment per patient will triple!
You can see why it is so important to us!
ABOUT THE GOAT!
On Monday the Goat met his maker, as we celebrated NHIF Gazettingt the previous Friday.
The staff has been asking for a goat since we opened, but we met our promise to slaughter one once we were Gazetted. It took 3 long years!

A beautiful meal African style!
Goat flavoured rice, cabbage and Irish potatoes, as they are called here. All that was missing was their favourite staple of Ugali, maize flour, and water, boiled together to make a really thick porridge that you can pick up with your fingers and eat.

Kathy is the expert at sterilizing and has papers to prove it!
This week she was given a challenge of dental instruments, in the hundreds, to sort out and sterilize, in preparation for a dental outreach, along with eyes, in Baringo (4 1/2 hours away) at the weekend.
Well done sweetheart! You did so well.!

DAVID'S DOODLINGS
409. The laws of both Nature and the Spirit reveal that light will always penetrate darkness.

56. In The Eye of The Beholder
There was a little old lady who was nearly blind and she had three jealous sons who each wanted to prove that they were the best son to her.
The first son bought her a 15 room mansion, thinking it would be the best any of then could offer.
The second son bought her a beautiful Mercedes with a chauffeur, thinking this would certainly win her approval.
The third son had to do even better, so he bought her a trained parrot, that had been in training for 15 years to memorise the entire Bible. You could ask him any verse of the Bible, and the parrot could quote it word for word. That certainly would be the best gift of all!
Well, the lady went to the first son and said, "Son, the house is beautiful, but it's just too big for me. I only live in one room, and it's just too hard to clean and take care of the rest. Thank you anyway."
Then to the second son she said, "The car was gorgeous, but I really don't go out much, and it's such a waste. Besides, the driver is pretty irritating and I really don't like him that well. I appreciate your effort, but could you please return the car?"
Then she spoke to the third son. "Son, I'd like to thank you for the most thoughtful gift of all! That chicken was delicious."
57. Earthly Wisdom
A Sunday school teacher was teaching her class about the difference between right and wrong.
"All right children, let's take another example," she said. "If I were to get into a man's pocket and take his billfold with all his money, what would I be?"
Little Johnny raises his hand, and with a confident smile, he blurts out, "You'd be his wife!"

A DAVID MUSING
This week we have finally had the victory for which we have been waiting for 3 long years of struggle in our hospital.
For without approval as a provider for the Government sponsored National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF), the hospital could never succeed financially, always being reliant upon donors.
This week on Wednesday, the NHIF computer was linked with ours and so it was all go!
How did we feel? Ecstatic? You would think so. But no! We were simply relieved!
Now we can get on with the work of promoting the Kingdom Faith Based Hospital. After all the wait, again, as i have said, we were relieved.
That is how life is - moving one step after another. There are no shortcuts.
When you are older, you can either rest, look back at the good days - if they were - of the past, or keep pressing on towards the heavenly goal of winning the prize for completing the race of life well.
For the Bible tells us it is not how we begin but how we finish the race that counts.
