MUSINGS ON THE KINGDOM - PAST, FUTURE AND PRESENT

KINGDOM PRESENT - THE KINGDOM PARABLES

The Parable of the Sower

Again Jesus began to teach by the lake. The crowd that gathered around him was so large that he got into a boat and sat in it out on the lake, while all the people were along the shore at the water’s edge. 2 He taught them many things by parables, and in his teaching said: 3 “Listen! A farmer went out to sow his seed. 4 As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. 5 Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. 6 But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. 7 Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants, so that they did not bear grain. 8 Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up, grew and produced a crop, multiplying thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times.” 9 Then Jesus said, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.” 10 When he was alone, the Twelve and the others around him asked him about the parables. 11 He told them, “The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those on the outside everything is said in parables 12 so that, ”‘they may be ever seeing but never perceiving, and ever hearing but never understanding; otherwise they might turn and be forgiven!’” 13 Then Jesus said to them, “Don’t you understand this parable? How then will you understand any parable? 14 The farmer sows the word. 15 Some people are like seed along the path, where the word is sown. As soon as they hear it, Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in them. 16 Others, like seed sown on rocky places, hear the word and at once receive it with joy. 17 But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. 18 Still others, like seed sown among thorns, hear the word; 19 but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful. 20 Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop—thirty, sixty or even a hundred times what was sown.” (Mark 4:1-20)

This week we will complete our look at this parable, seeing how it relates to the church as a whole.

Before approaching this subject we need to understand that while God remains the same, yesterday, today and forever, our understanding, our revelation, of Him is growing, and will continue to develop until the day that Jesus returns, for Jesus is the full revelation of the Father.

3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. (Hebrews 1:3)

At the end of the Dark Ages, marked by the Reformation, God started restoring His truths to the church. This ongoing restoration can be viewed as ocurring in 3 principle stages, in line with the crops produced in the Parable of the Sower.

TRADITIONAL/EVANGELICAL CHURCHES (1500+) (Revealing Jesus and Baptism) (30 fold church) The first truths to be re-established through the Reformation era were those of salvation through faith (Luther) and baptism (Anna Baptists). Movements that followed through people such as Wesley, Carey and Finney emphasised holiness and missions, amongst other things. The churches that embraced these truths are broadly known as Traditional or Evangelical churches. eg. Lutheran, Anglican, Methodist, Presbyterian, Baptist, Brethren, etc.

PENTECOSTAL/CHARISMATIC CHURCHES (1900+) (Revealing Holy Spirit) (60 fold church) Round the turn of the 20th century the revelation and power of the Holy Spirit re-entered the church in a major way through the outpouring at Azusa Street in Los Angeles and the Welsh Revival. Speaking in tongues was restored. Churches such as the AOG were established. From the late 1940's onwards, through the Latter Rain Movement, spiritual gifts such as healing, and later, prophecy, returned. In later years of the century this revelation and application of Holy Spirit power 'invaded' many traditional and evangelical churches, being known as the Charismatic Movement.

However, the pattern of God is always in threes, as indicated in our parable. So far, the church has had the two major transformations, those of Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Logically then, there must be one more major development, the church of the Father, the 100 fold church, still to come.

I do understand that this may well be a new, even strange concept for you to grasp, but I wish to show through the scripture upon which WWJ Ministries is based, that this is a logical progression. Revelation 12:11 talks of a people, a church, who would overcome satan. You must surely agree that we have not yet done so.

11 They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb (Jesus) and by the word of their testimony; (Holy Spirit) they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death. (Father) (Revelation 12:11)

For us, the church, to overcome satan, 3 conditions apply. The church must operate in the power of salvation through the blood of the Lamb, Jesus, and through our testimony, which comes out of our mouth but from our heart, the seat of the Holy Spirit. This reflects our current two church understanding, as above.

However, to finally overcome satan, their must be a church of sacrifice, based on doing the will of the Father. His will is expressed in the Lord's Prayer.

10 your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. (Matthew 6:10)

The Father's will is to see His kingdom established upon the earth! This is today's revelation for His church. His kingdom will be established through a people '100 fold' sold out to God.

KINGDOM (APOSTOIC, BRIDE, OVERCOMERS etc.) CHURCH (2000+) (Revealing the Father) (100 fold church) Not a denomination, not a building, but a people dedicated to Jesus across all forms of church and non church, who will relate (network) together informally through the power of the Holy Spirit, so enabling them to build the Father's kingdom here on earth.

A people who will finally fulfil the promise of Jesus.

18 He replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. 20 However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” (Luke 10:18-20)

The 100 fold church of the Parable of the Sower.

Are you prepared to make the sacrifice to see God's kingdom established now?

FROM THE WORD

"In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs. For to which of the angels did God ever say, “You are my Son; today I have become your Father”? Or again, “I will be his Father, and he will be my Son”? And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says, “Let all God’s angels worship him.” In speaking of the angels he says, “He makes his angels winds, his servants flames of fire." But about the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever, and righteousness will be the scepter of your kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.”" (Hebrews 1:1-9)

"Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: “Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down. They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death. Therefore rejoice, you heavens and you who dwell in them! But woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has gone down to you! He is filled with fury, because he knows that his time is short.”" (Revelation 12:10-12)

Jesus Sends Out the Seventy-two

"After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves. Do not take a purse or bag or sandals; and do not greet anyone on the road. “When you enter a house, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’ If a man of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; if not, it will return to you. Stay in that house, eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages. Do not move around from house to house. “When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is set before you. Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God is near you.’ But when you enter a town and are not welcomed, go into its streets and say, ‘Even the dust of your town that sticks to our feet we wipe off against you. Yet be sure of this: The kingdom of God is near.’ I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town. “Woe to you, Korazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. But it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment than for you. And yu, Capernaum, will you be lifted up to the skies? No, you will go down to the depths. “He who listens to you listens to me; he who rejects you rejects me; but he who rejects me rejects him who sent me.” The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.” He replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure. “All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and no one knows who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.” Then he turned to his disciples and said privately, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see. For I tell you that many prophets and kings wanted to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.”" (Luke 10:1-24)

DAVID'S DOODLINGS

SERVANTHOOOD

561. It is better to be ‘led’ by God than ’bled’ by life.

562. In God, to obey is the better way.

563. Our Christian walk in a ‘t’ – from rust to trust!

564. To serve is to…
… love the unlovely
… help the helpless
… befriend the lonely
… rebuild the brokenhearted
… soothe the sick
… bless the poor
… raise up the downtrodden
… seek the lost
… comfort the dying

565. True servants add their own desires to the end of the queue.

566. Pride demolishes, while servanthood builds.

567. Leaders of character understand the twin character difference between serve and slave.

568. To serve is God initiated, to slave, human imposed.

569. A servant serves by choice, a slave through fear.

570. For down to be up, up must first be down.

571. A ‘servant leader’ is beyond the world’s comprehension. And many Christians too!

572. To serve is a privilege, to abuse the server, a sacrilege.

573. Show me a true servant and I will show you one whom God truly loves.

574. To abuse God’s servant is to abuse God himself.

575. Maturity in God is learning that service is a privilege, not a burden.

576. The firepower of God’s Army is ‘service’.

577. Service is the invincible secret weapon of God’s Army.

578. ‘Service with a smile’ means to ‘go the extra mile.’

579. The world works by taking away, God by giving away.

580. To go down to go up is logical. Ask a bouncy ball!

581. To serve is a blessing, to lead a challenge. To be a servant leader, a challenging blessing!

582. A theologian thinks, a worshiper feels, a servant acts.

CRANWELL'S CARTOON

46 Then Paul and Barnabas answered them boldly: “We had to speak the word of God to you first. Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles. 47 For this is what the Lord has commanded us: ”‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’” 48 When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honored the word of the Lord; and all who were appointed for eternal life believed. LAUGHING AT OURSELVES

***Blessed are those who can laugh at themselves for they shall never cease to be amused***

*** "Those who can't laugh at themselves leave the job to others." ***

224. WWJD?
Most people assume WWJD is for "What would Jesus do?" But the initials really stand for "What would Jesus drive?"

One theory is that Jesus would tool around in an old Plymouth because, "God drove Adam and Eve out of the Garden of Eden in His Fury."

But in Psalm 83, the Almighty clearly owns a Pontiac and a Geo. The passage urges the Lord to "pursue your enemies with your Tempest and terrify them with your Storm."

Perhaps God favors Dodge pickup trucks, because Moses' followers are warned not to go up a mountain "until the Ram's horn sounds a long blast."

Some scholars insist that Jesus drove a Honda, but didn't like to talk about it. As proof, they cite a verse in St. John's Gospel, in which Christ tells the crowd, "I did not speak of my own Accord."

Meanwhile, David rode an old British motorcycle, as evidenced by a Bible passage declaring that "the roar of David's Triumph is heard in the hills."

Joshua drove a Triumph sports car with a hole in its muffler: "Joshua's Triumph was heard throughout the land."

And, following the Master's lead, the apostles carpooled in a Honda: they were in one Accord.

223. SLEEPING THROUGH THE SERMON
I was pastor of a small church in a rural community. Wilbur and his wife, Leah, attended every Sunday morning. Wilbur was a farmer, and whenever he came into the house from the field and sat down, he would fall asleep.

It was such a habit that when he came into church and sat in the pew he would also soon fall asleep. I discovered that some of the members of the church were taking bets to see how long I could keep Wilbur awake on Sunday mornings.

Wilbur's wife was embarrassed by his behavior, especially when he began to snore. She tried everything to keep her sleepy spouse awake. She complained to him that she was getting calluses on her elbow from poking him in the ribs in a futile attempt to keep him alert. One day while shopping in the grocery store, she saw a small bottle of Limburger cheese. Leah bought it and dropped it in her purse.

The next Sunday morning I had just started the sermon when Wilbur began to nod. When I finished the first point in my three-point sermon, I could see I was losing him. As I started the third point, Wilbur began to snore. Quietly, Leah opened her purse, took out the bottle of Limburger cheese and held it under her husband's nose. It worked. Wilbur sat up straight and, in a voice that could be heard all over the church, said, "Leah, will you please keep your feet on your own side of the bed!"

FACTS FOR FUN

LAST WEEKS QUESTION: Which American first lady carried a gun in her purse?

ANSWER: First Lady, Eleanor Roosevelt, was advised by the Secret Service to carry a pistol with her. The sombre advice followed a large number of letters threatening her life after her husband, Franklin D. Roosevelt, took office. (Some things don’t change!)

THIS WEEK'S QUESTION: When Sesame Street's Big Bird has a birthday, he luckily always remains the same age. How old is he?

Answer Next Week.

SOME FUN FACTS

190. OPPOSITES ATTRACT
A Swiss study found that a majority of women subconsciously choose mates with a body odour that differs from their own natural scents. As a result, this ensures better immune protection for their children. ‘Longevity’ magazine reports that the genes that fight disease-provoking substances also influence body odour. (Choose the right mate quicker at the gym!)

191. SPIDER REPELLANT
Spiders never spin webs in structures made of chestnut wood. For this reason many European stately homes were built with chestnut beams – for ease of cleaning! (The first spider spray?)

192. LOUDMOUTHS!
Some crickets burrow megaphone-like tunnels that help transport the sound of their chirps as far as 2,000 feet (600m) away. (Technology enhanced insects!)

GREAT GROANERS!

164. ARM ROBBERY
With the weather sunny and warm, the driver was cruising down the interstate highway when a huge truck crashed into the side of his car, severing the arm at the shoulder. Two young teenagers, observing the accident volunteered to rush the severed arm to the local hospital for considered restructuring to the driver's shoulder.

Several hours later, with the driver at the hospital and no sign of the young teenagers or the man's arm, the police put out an APB for the teenage drivers saying, "This is the worse case of arm robbery in police history." --Lawrence Brotherton

165. HISTORY CLASS
The history class was studying the Revolutionary battle of Saratoga which was probably lost because General William Howe chose to remain in Philadelphia. The teacher then asked the class to explain this major British defeat.

"Lack of no Howe," answered a voice from the back of the classroom.

166. PROVES WISDOM
A Chinese scholar was lecturing when all the lights in the auditorium went out. He asked members of the audience to raise their hands. As soon as they had all complied, the lights went on again.

He then said, "Prove wisdom of Old Chinese saying: 'Many hands make light work.' "

167. THE MILLS
There's a small German town near Munich called Pfilzerplatz, and the town is known around the world for producing the finest stationery and paper anywhere. You want wine, you go to France; you want big waves to surf, you go to southern California; you want good paper, you go to Pfilzerplatz.

Anyway, nearby Munich had a growing problem - the thousands of stray dogs in the city were breeding with one another and were beginning to overrun the city. So the higher-ups of Munich organized a new department to get rid of the dogs. Soon enough, they had chased all of the dogs out of the city. No one knew where they went - they just went away.

A couple of days after the dogs disappeared from Munich, they appeared in Pfilzerplatz. And because Pfilzerplatz is so much smaller than Munich, the town was soon totally overrun with the dogs. So the town's mayor decided that the town should be evacuated.

Everyone left the town, thus shutting down the paper mills. Well, a couple of days later, the townsfolk were watching the town from the hills, and they saw smoke rising from the smokestacks at the paper mills. Knowing that there weren't any humans left in the town, they knew it was the dogs running the factories. And so the mayor rushed off to Munich, found Munich's mayor and announced:

"You've got to help us! The mills are alive with the hounds of Munich!"

Pastors' Alliance Working to Take Back Violent Mexican Border Town

by Ben Swann, CBN News

JUAREZ, MEXICO - One of the biggest issues that sparked the Arizona immigration law was the growing crime and violence along the border from drug gangs.

The violent cartels have been blamed for robberies and even murders.

Yet despite the risk, pastors are taking the gospel to the streets to lift up their communities.

In the world's most violent city of Juarez, Mexico, a battle between the government and drug cartels has no end in sight. A military surge of 10,000 soldiers did nothing to curb the violence. Juarez is across the border from El Paso, Texas, and has seen more than 5,000 people executed in less than three years.

"Everybody trusted that when the Army came to the city the problems were going to be resolved, and they didn't," pastor Poncho Murguia explained. "Now we have the federal police and it's not getting better."

Now, a new kind of surge is taking place.

Murguia is the head of an evangelical pastors alliance that is working to take back the city of Juarez one family and home a time.

"We're going to go into the streets and into the homes and who knows who we are going to meet," Murguia said. "We are going to meet good people. We are going to get bad people, but the gospel is powerful to change lives."

Thousands of volunteers from 120 churches throughout Juarez are taking part in outreach over three weekends. And in a city where dozens of people die everyday, the work they are doing is very dangerous.

"[A pastor told me] that one of his teenagers.... stopped a car and [asked] 'can we pray for you?' And the guys who were inside of the car said, 'no I don't think you can pray for our business.' And when this young lady looked into the car she saw five men with guns, but [still] started praying," Murguia shared. "And all of a sudden these people got silent and they closed their eyes, they bowed their heads and they prayed... and she blessed them and they left."

The group of pastors aren't acting on their own. For the first time in Mexico's history, the government is working with the evangelicals.

Mexican President Felipe Calderon has made three trips to Juarez this year and met with Murguia each time.

"When we finished the meeting I had the opportunity to talk to him face-to-face and he told me personally, 'you know what, you are right. The only thing that can help us to get out of this is by having faith in God,'" Murguia recalled. "So that brings hope to my heart and joy to my ears thinking that -- knowing that the president is thinking about God and about faith and thinking about God as a solution."

Now, church leaders find themselves on the front lines of what God is doing in Juarez, not only to bring help to the current situation, but to bring a real change the country of Mexico.

"Where sin abounded -- and then there is a 'comma'-- then grace over abounded. We are in the comma right now," Murgui said. "We are on the bridge of jumping to the over abundance of grace and that is what we are expecting. We are excited about it. We have faith. We have hope. We serve the Lord Jesus Christ."

WAXING LYRICAL

Feeling dejected that you don't seem to be doing as well as the ministry down the road? Then, this poem is a message of reassurance for you. Yes, God love you too!

YES IT'S TRUE, GOD LOVES YOU!

God loves us all,
The big, the small,
The short and the tall,
At home, at the mall.
Yes it's true, God loves you!

We look at others, see the exterior,
So easy to feel, greatly inferior.
Their ministry is so much bigger than mine!
I'm on the wrong side, of the thin red line!
But it's true, God loves you!

Yesterday, I went past the church down the road,
Everything about it was surely made, me to goad!
From the Mercedes in the carpark, to the automatic door,
Me, in my faithful old jalopy, with four on the floor.
But it's true, God loves you!

With all the trappings of success, God is surely blessing him,
When it comes to my church, expenses, we have to trim!
Oh God, my God, what have I done wrong?
My ministry - it would sell for a song!
But it's true, God loves you!

This man, he's so annointed,
Me - I'm just disappointed!
My Lord, I've given my whole life to you,
Every day, my commitment, I do renew.
But it's true, God loves you!

I love all my people,
More than the steeple.
Many, over the years, have let me down,
But still I bless them, with Your crown.
But it's true, God loves you!

What more can I do for you Lord?
Thought we were of one accord!
But when I see what others have done,
Why have I missed out on all the fun!
But it's true, God loves you!

"I hear you, I hear you, my faithful one,
For you, just for you, I gave my Son,
You are so very precious in my sight,
A shining star, radiating my light."

Yes it's true, God loves you!

"What you perceive, will not always be true,
You don't see things, from my point of view,
For I am looking always, to the heart,
Don't put the horse, before the cart."

Yes it's true, God loves you!

"I do not judge my own by numbers or wealth,
These can be achieved by the human self,
But by how much of yourself you will give to Me,
Commitment and submission - that's what I see."

Yes it's true, God loves you!

"The order in Heaven is so different to earth,
For I am only interested, in spiritual girth!
Not beauty, nor success, nor intelligence, nor size,
I know your heart is for me, that much I realise."

Yes it's true, God loves you!

"So when the glorious day arrives, to finally come, stay with me,
You have built up treasure here, will last throughout eternity,
No, don't get yourself deceived by the glitter of earthly ways,
You are destined to rule and reign with Me - now and always!"

Yes it's true, God loves you!

A DAVID MUSING

Had a surprise visit from our 2 youngest sons over the weekend. They live in Wellington, New Zealand's capital, which is a 4 hour drive from Napier where we live.

They were having a 'seeing grandmothers weekend', as neither Kathy's mother, nor mine, has been so well lately. So we, 'the parents', had the joy of having them stay with us for 2 nights too.

Families are important. Our government here, with good intentions of trying to help people caught in bad relationships, often has the effect of destroying what is the godly foundation of society, by making it too easy to leave through financial support.

Our Jesus families too, are all too easily torn into many pieces through disagreements in the church.

The forgiveness and grace that God shows to us need to be applied by us in our day to day relationships. Try it! You will be amazed at the positive effect it has - on you as well as those you relate to.

Until next week.......

MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOU BLESS GOD.

His servant and yours

DONATIONS

Each month, because of the size and nature of our web site and maintenance of our sophisticated emailing system, it costs over $200 in provider fees to bring this ministry to you. If you are able to help us meet this expense your credit card donation would be very much welcomed at Make Donations Here as a live connection or at https://secure.macnet.co.nz/www.wwj.org.nz/pay.php
if you prefer to paste the address into your browser. Thanks.

CHANGING YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS? NEWSLETTER STOPS COMING?

Each week we can lose up to 2% of our readers when they change email addresses without letting us know. Or sometimes, by your server acting strangely and just cutting us off! If you are about to change your address, please advise us of both your old and new addresses here at
enquiries@wwj.org.nz and we will happily change our records to ensure ongoing delivery. Thanks.

Please also keep our address in your address book, as sometimes servers will automatically delete your address if there is even a one off problem in delivery. If your newsletter doesn't arrive, please let us know and we will reinstate you.

ABOUT US

WALKING WITH JESUS MINISTRIES is a non-profit, non-denominational, Bible based ministry located in Hastings, New Zealand. A ministry dedicated to developing discipleship, fostering unity amongst God’s people to achieve the Great Commission, and in doing so, preparing for Christ’s return. It is securely based upon the foundational principles of the Apostles Creed while recognising the wide and rich diversity of beliefs amongst Christians in other areas. In accordance with the Lord’s direction, materials produced by the ministry are available, free of charge, to genuine enquirers upon request. The ministry is solely funded by donations, as the Lord provides. A list of materials available (plus some fun!) is obtainable and freely downloadable from our website
wwj.org.nz or by contacting us as follows.

Our role is to bless and encourage those in ministry while promoting co-operation and unity of direction amongst the body of Christ, as emphasised 3 times by Jesus in His longest prayer, immediately prior to His arrest and crucifixion. "… so that they may be one as we are one." (John 17:12, 21, 23-4) Our website is currently being developed to encourage your participation one with another, to share resources, and to enable you to promote events and items of interest to the body as a whole – and have a smile while doing it!
