JESUS TALKS ABOUT THE KINGDOM (Kingdom mentions in the Gospels)

9 “This, then, is how you should pray: ”‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, 10 your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. (Matthew 6:9-10) Part 3

Last week we saw that there has been a convergence between heaven and earth on two previous occasions. At creation, before mankind sinned, then again, when Jesus came to earth.

The basic principle I have come to learn in understanding God and His way of working, is that He is a God of 'threes'. Once we receive this understanding, the plans of God for us, His people, come into much clearer focus.

To illustrate, we have the foundation of God being 3 in 1 and 1 in 3, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We are made in His 3 part likeness (1 part visible, 2 invisible), as body, soul and spirit, with a 3 part soul (our unique personality) consisting of mind, emotions and will.

I first received an understanding of the importance of 3's on the day, out working in the fields tending our commercial flower crop, when the Lord spoke to me asking me to set up this - His not mine - ministry based on Revelation 12:11. That day, He started to explain to me what this verse meant; of the progressive power of 3 in the Bible.

11 They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb (salvation through Jesus) and by the word of their testimony; (through the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit) they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death. (obedience to the Father's will) (Revelation 12:11)

At that time He showed me that while we had an understanding of Jesus, (the fulfillment of Passover) and the Holy Spirit (fulfillment of Pentecost), we were now coming into the time of the fullfilment of the Feast of Tabernacles, which relates to the person of God the Father, requiring obedience, righteousness and holiness in His people as He prepares His Bride church for the return of Jesus.

There are many ways this pattern of 3's is expressed throughout the Bible. For example, we have the triad of hope, faith and love.

13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. (1 Corinthians 13:13)

Firstly, we have the hope of the salvation of Jesus, in our mind.....

8 But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. (1 Thessalonians 5:8)

.....then faith through the power of the testimony of the Holy Spirit from our mouth via our heart, the seat of our emotions.....

9 That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)

These we understand. But as the Lord showed me that day in the fields, we are now coming into the greatest time of all, that of the Father, based on love, which is not of the emotions, as the world teaches, but of determination, of our will. Love of the unlovely. Of putting others ahead of ones self.

14 Do everything in love. (1 Corinthians 16:14)

As the verse says, this third element, this third day, that of the preparation of the Bride for Jesus is the greatest time in spiritual history.....

But the greatest of these is love. (1 Corinthians 13:13b)

For a greater understanding of this principle, see our free PDF download A REVELATION OF…….THE POWER OF THREE IN GOD AND THE CHURCH - The significance of 3's in the purposes of God.

Which brings us back to our hypothesis. If heaven has come to earth twice before, then logic dictates it will come a third time, in line with the principles of God.

That is enough to ponder upon this week.

(To be continued next week)

PS: I understand that some of these concepts may be very different to you but I just ask you to read for the next few weeks, without rejecting them out of hand. Please pray about it also. Thanks. David.

FROM THE WORD

Love

"And now I will show you the most excellent way. If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." (1 Corinthians 12:31b-13:13)

"Now, brothers, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. But you, brothers, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. You are all sons of the light and sons of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be alert and self-controlled. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing." (1 Thessalonians 5:1-11)

"Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness. Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes. Moses describes in this way the righteousness that is by the law: “The man who does these things will live by them.” But the righteousness that is by faith says: “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’” (that is, to bring Christ down) “or ‘Who will descend into the deep?’” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame.” For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”" (Romans 10:1-15)

5. Earthly possessions are perceived to be:
- Owned - by the foolish.
- Rented - by the wise.
- Administered - by the godly.

6. Our true heart is found in our wallet:
- The foolish spend all on themselves.
- The wise tithe 10% to the provider.
- The godly use all they have been given on the provider’s behalf.

7. The foolish reject God, the wise respect God, while the godly live for their God.

12. The foolish love pleasure, the wise find pleasure in love, but to the godly, pleasure is love.

13. Unity of fellowship is spurned by the foolish, acknowledged by the wise, but sought by the godly.

14. Foolishness is effortless, wisdom a gift, but godliness requires submission.

15. Satan loves the foolish, attacks the wise, but fears the godly.

16. Wisdom is easily read, takes time to acquire, but needs to be applied over a lifetime.

17. Fools believe they have all wisdom, the wise are prepared to learn from others, while the godly one's teacher is the Holy Spirit.

18. The foolish heart seeks only God’s blessings, the wise heart seeks to bless others, while the godly heart first blesses God.

LAUGHING AT OURSELVES

***Blessed are those who can laugh at themselves for they shall never cease to be amused***

*** "Those who can't laugh at themselves leave the job to others." ***

292. CHUCRCH PEW POSITION
A couple who usually sat in the back whenever they attended the church service.
One particular Sunday they decided to move up to the front in order to be sure to hear the sermon.

Even though they had been attending the church for several years, the long time church member they sat next to did not recognize them, but cheerfully said, "Good to have ya with us! Where y'all from?"

Taken by surprise, the husband mumbled, "The back."

291. DADDY'S SERMONS
A pastor tried to prepare his two children for what he thought might be a boring high school graduation ceremony. "Graduations are sometimes long, boring events," he said. "I want you guys to behave and not constantly ask when it's going to be over."

"Don't worry, Dad. We'll live", his daughter replied. "We last through all of your sermons, don't we?"

290. DO YOU WANT TO GO TO HEAVEN?
Father Murphy walks into a pub in Donegal, and says to the first man he meets, "Do you want to go to heaven?" The man said, "I do father." The priest said, "Then stand over there against the wall."

Then the priest asked the second man, "Do you want to go to heaven?" "Certainly, father," was the man's reply. "Then stand over there against the wall," said the priest.

Then father Murphy walked up to O'Toole and said, "Do you want to go to heaven?"
O'Toole said, "No, I don't father." The priest said, "I don't believe this. You mean to tell me that when you die you don't want to go to heaven?"

O'Toole said, "Oh, when I die, yes. I thought you were getting a group together to go right now."

FACTS FOR FUN

LAST WEEKS QUESTION: Why is the Dead Sea so salty?

ANSWER: It's just like the bigger oceans. Water from rivers and streams feeds into it but no water drains out of it. The only way water can leave is through evaporation. And as the water evaporates, the salt is left behind. (‘Sink or swim’ doesn’t apply here – for you can’t sink and it is difficult to swim in because of the bouyancy.)

THIS WEEK'S QUESTION: Why do fawns have spots?

Answer Next Week.

SOME FUN FACTS

118. LIKE ME!
Earth is putting on weight day by day as meteors and microscopic space dust falls from space. (So when will it fall out of the sky?)

119. A 'CRUISEY' LIFE
The female lion does more than 90 percent of the hunting, while the male is either afraid to risk his life, or simply prefers to rest. (Okay, we all know that women do all the work!)

120. NOT AMERICAN ENOUGH
Shangri-La, the presidential hideaway near Thurmont, Maryland, was renamed Camp David, in honour of President Dwight D. Eisenhower's father and grandson on May 22, 1953. (Hardly roughing it in the outback though!)

BIBLE TRIVIA (Famous Words and Phrases)

RAISING CAIN

..... means to act with abandonment or wildly. So called because of Cain, who killed his brother Abel, and was forever marked as a violent man.

Why the West Won't Hear About Persecution

by Paul Strand, CBN News

WASHINGTON, DC - Hundreds of millions of Christians have suffered discrimination or even persecution in lands as diverse as China and India, but mostly in countries where Islam is the top religion. Despite this, persecution of Christians is one topic the American public doesn't hear much about. One possible reason: an anti-Christian bias among Western elites.

These Western elites often control the media and educational institutions that spread information to the general public. But they rarely cover or discuss the reality that Christians may well be the most persecuted religious group on the planet. It has been estimated that Christians number some 2.2 billion people. Harassment of them can range from loss of life to loss of livelihood.

FROM COMMUNISTS TO MUSLIM EXTREMISTS

Paul Marshall of the Hudson Institute has authored seven books on Christian persecution and discrimination.

"Including discrimination, you're talking 600, 700 million Christians," Marshall told CBN News.

"In about two-thirds of the world, Christians of one stripe or another face some sort of harassment," said Brian Grim, senior researcher at the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life.

Persecution of Christians dates back to the time of Jesus and his disciples, but it is increasing rapidly in the new century. Christian journalist and author David Aikman touches upon this fact frequently in his work.

"Christians in innumerable countries are under huge amounts of pressure, either from the government or from the societies in which they find themselves," Aikman said.

Throughout the 20th century, communist countries caused the most problems for Christians. Today, however, the fear and harassment has shifted to the Muslim world.

Open Doors USA tracks persecution around the world and publishes a watch list every January of the worst offenders.

"In this year's top 10, eight of those worst offenders are Islamic countries," Dr. Carl Moeller, Open Doors president and chief executive officer, told CBN News

IRAQ'S 'RELIGICIDE'

Iraq made the top 10 list of offending countries because of the recent brutal attacks on Christians, including the massacre of 58 Christians in a Baghdad Catholic Church in October 2010.

"The level of brutality is almost unbelievable," Marshall said.

"We're actually labelling it as 'religicide,' as extremists there want to exterminate all Christians from the country of Iraq," Moeller added.

In parts of Afghanistan, Christians can face death or long imprisonment for even small acts, such as simply handing a Bible out, according to Moeller. Muslim extremists in Pakistan have been killing Christians at an increasing rate for "blasphemy."

"Christians are being accused of blaspheming against Islam by converting from Islam to Christianity," Moeller said.

CHRISTIANS = INFIDELS

The violence against Christians is also breaking out in Muslim countries once considered more secular and less radical.

"Christians are starting to be killed on religious grounds in Turkey," Marshall explained. "That's new."

How do Muslims justify their hatred of Christians? Marshall explained to CBN News how Islamic radicals see it.

"They're infidels. They're unbelievers in what's a Muslim land," he said.

There's also plenty of persecution outside the Muslim world, including China and India. For good reason, North Korea has topped Open Doors' watch list for nine years in a row.

"If you're caught as a Christian in North Korea, say simply leading a Bible study or even owning a Bible, you can be thrown into a labor camp that is exactly like the old Soviet Union's gulag where people are literally worked to death," Moeller described.

CHRISTIANS AS 'PERSECUTORS,' NOT VICTIMS

Despite all this, information about Christian persecution worldwide is not often heard of in the very countries founded as Christian nations and that contain huge Christian majorities. Some blame the lack of information on the elites that control the media and academics that imagine Christians as persecutors, not victims.

"We've had elite universities basically teaching their undergraduates that the only villains in history who oppressed others for religious reasons were the Christians," Aikman explained.

Marshall pointed out these elites, both in the US and Europe, are often openly hostile toward the Christian faith and its followers.

"Europeans who can otherwise be laid back, they get very angry about Christians," he said.

"There's really an unwillingness to accept the fact that Christians have become an endangered species in some countries of the world," Aikman added.

Moeller said members of the Western media are overwhelmingly secular, so they often have a hard time even perceiving the religious root of persecution.

"They fail to see religion as a primary motive for the violence that Christians are experiencing," he said.

For many elites and secular types in the media, it's a nuisance, Marshall explained.

"Religion touches on areas they're uncomfortable with, so they just want it to go away. For them, it's like the fingernails on the blackboard."

DEADLY CONSEQUENCES

Aikman said he worries the Obama administration isn't attentive enough to the religious persecution and discrimination overseas.

"At least Obama himself has not been nearly as articulate and forceful on religious freedom issues as President Bush," Aikman said.

The problem can have real and deadly consequences.

"Many countries that were contemplating some kind of crackdown on Christians think, 'Well, it doesn't really matter,'" Aikman continued. "'The U.S. is not going to say anything. They're not going to complain. So let's go ahead and make life harder for our Christian minorities.'"

Moeller said such inattention by the West "can result in imprisonment, torture, and even martyrdom for the cause of Jesus Christ."

WAXING LYRICAL

What will the new year bring? As applicable today as it was when it was written.

2009

Running out of time,
Another year's over,
A lemon or a lime?
It's over Rover!

Can't change the past,
Memories will last.
Of good things done,
Others, not begun.

2009's nearly here
Let us be of good cheer,
And not turn the recession,
Into personal depression.

Money may well be tight,
But there's still light,
Jesus is ever on the throne,
No matter how much we groan.

Come into His presence,
Experience the essence,
Of His grace and glory,
In the heavenly story.

"Rest in my goodness,
With thankfulness,
For I am the Lord,
Me you can afford.

I am always here for you,
Will ever see you through,
You're in the palm of my hand,
With me, forever you'll stand.

Come now and rest in me,
One plus one is three,
My love for you is always free,
Accept it, then you will see.

One day the world will end,
Eternity with me to spend,
But now, come build my kingdom here on earth,
You're my precious pearl, beyond all worth."
