SERMON ON THE MOUNT - THE KINGDOM WAY

8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. (Matthew 5:6)

EXPOSITION
This is the greatest promise of all the beatitudes, but is also the hardest to attain to.

On the one side we are to a pure heart, devoid of earthly lusts and desires. If we do so, the promise is that we will see God, not just at a future time in heaven, but on earth, now. In doing so we will become part of the 'bride of Christ' for which Jesus is returning.

TESTIMONY
This beatitude is both the most important, and will become the most controversial, in this time of revelation of God's kingdom being not just in heaven but truly being established upon the earth. Why? Because 99.999% of Christians (including me) have not yet reached this place.

Yet Jesus is to return for a perfect bride.

7 Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. 8 Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear.” (Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of the saints.) (Revelation 19:7-8)

I am sure that if we are both being honest, we will agree that we haven't reached this level of purity of thought and living yet. And, continuing in the honesty vein, we would admit that it is impossible to achieve in our own strength.

Over the past years, as the Lord has shown me a little of what is to come. In my humanness, I have thought that it is impossible, likely just my imagination! Yet, in more recent times, I have found that there are many others that the Lord has, and is, giving the same, impossible vision to.

One lesson I have learned is, no matter how I might try, I cannot achieve a life of purity through my own efforts. I fall far short of wearing a pure white robe. For I know my thoughts are not God's thoughts, as He indeed explained through Isaiah.

8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. 9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8-9)

However, I believe the way of the end times is to be different to what we have seen, both in our own lives and in the church. For we live in New Covenant (Testament) times.

46 The spiritual did not come first, but the natural, and after that the spiritual. 47 The first man was of the dust of the earth, the second man from heaven. 48 As was the earthly man, so are those who are of the earth; and as is the man from heaven, so also are those who are of heaven. 49 And just as we have borne the likeness of the earthly man, so shall we bear the likeness of the man from heaven. (1 Corinthians 15:46-9)

My friend, we are on a walk with Jesus. I don't know the turns the path is going to take, but I am confident that as long as I allow myself to be led by my Saviour, I will end up at the place promised in Romans.

19 The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. 20 For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God. 22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. 23 Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. (Romans 8:19-23)

While the world may in recession and gloom, the future for sold out believers has never looked brighter!

"Lord, I give You my permission to change me into the one you would desire me to be."

FROM THE WORD

"Then a voice came from the throne, saying: “Praise our God, all you his servants, you who fear him, both small and great!” Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting: “Hallelujah!
For our Lord God Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear.” (Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of the saints.) Then the angel said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!’” And he added, “These are the true words of God.” At this I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “Do not do it! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” " (Revelation 19:5-10)

"Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will freely pardon. “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands." (Isaiah 55:6-12)

FUTURE GLORY
"I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God. We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will." (Romans 8:18-27)

DAVID'S DOODLINGS

REACH FOR THE SKY!

82. Sparrows can only twitter in the foothills while eagles soar to the mountaintops. Why then, are there so many more sparrows than eagles?

83. Nobody told the bumblebee that he cannot fly – so he does!

84. If the bumblebee can fly, so can you and I.

85. Only eagles fly high!

341. Unfortunately, there are many more people in life who would rather see you fly low than high. They want company!

342. The higher the mountain, the fewer who are prepared to climb, but the greater the rewards.

343. It's a lot less crowded on the mountaintops!

344. It's only the unsuccessful who have the secret of 'easy success'!

345. You can only get to the top of the mountain by starting from the bottom.

346. If you don't start, you will never finish!

CRANWELL'S CARTOON

THE PARABLE OF THE LOST SON
11 Jesus continued: “There was a man who had two sons. 12 The younger one said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them.
13 “Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living. 14 After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need. 15 So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs. 16 He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything. 17 “When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired men have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! 18 I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. 19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired men.’ 20 So he got up and went to his father. “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him. LAUGHING AT OURSELVES

***Blessed are those who can laugh at themselves for they shall never cease to be amused***

*** "Those who can't laugh at themselves leave the job to others." ***

32. A TRICKY TIPPLE
Knowing that the minister was very fond of Cherry Brandy, one of the church elders offered to give him a bottle on one condition. – that he acknowledge receipt of the gift in the Church Bulletin.

The next Sunday, the elder turned at once to the ‘Appreciation’ column. There he read: "The minister extends his thanks to Elder Brown for his gift of fruit and the spirit in which it was given."

31. BACK IN TIME
A little boy opened the big old family Bible. He was fascinated as he fingered through the pages. Suddenly something fell out. It was an old leaf that had been pressed between the pages.

He yelled out to his mum, "Mum, come hear quick, I think I’ve found Adam’s underwear!"

30. THE HEAVENLY ARTIST
A Sunday School teacher began their lesson with a question, "Boys and girls, what do you know about God?"

A hand immediately shot up in the air. "He is an artist," said the youngster.

Really, "How do you know?" the teacher asked.

"You know – Our Father, who does art in heaven….."

FACTS FOR FUN

LAST WEEKS QUESTION: When did Mother's Day first come into being?

ANSWER: Mother's Day was first suggested by Julia Ward Howe, a
Woman’s Suffrage leader, and also author of ‘The Battle Hymn of the
Republic,’ in 1872. She envisioned it as a day to celebrate peace and
wanted it to be June 2. In 1907, West Virginian Anna Jarvis began
serious campaigning for a ‘Mother's Day’ to be held the second Sunday in
May. Woodrow Wilson approved this as a national holiday in 1915 in the
US and since then it has spread around the world. (What mother doesn’t
want peace?)

THIS WEEK'S QUESTION: Can your eyes pop out when you sneeze?

Answer Next Week.

SOME FUN FACTS

404. STARTING YOUNG
Alfred, Lord Tennyson, (photo) wrote a 6,000-word epic poem when he was 12 years old. (No time for tennis, son!) follow the biblical principle of ‘The first will be last, and the last will be first’!)

405. PERSEVERANCE
Gibbon spent 20 years writing ‘The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire’. Noah Webster spent 36 years writing his ‘Webster’s Dictionary’. (Great men take on big challenges.)

406. TOO VIVID
From 1941 until 1950, violet was part of the colour mixture for ‘M&M's’ Plain Chocolate Candies. Violet was then replaced by tan. (Roses are red, violets are blue, M&M’s are tan, just for you!)

'TIL DEATH DO US PART!

166. TROUBLE
A man went to the doctor complaining of insomnia. The doctor gave him a thorough examination, found absolutely nothing physically wrong with him, and then told him,

"Listen, if you ever expect to cure your insomnia, you just have to stop taking your trouble to bed with you."

"I know" said the man, "but I can't. My wife refuses to sleep alone."

67. MAY I?
My girlfriend took her five-year-old daughter shopping with her. The little girl watched her mother try on outfit after outfit, exclaiming every time, "Mommy, you look beautiful."

A woman in the next fitting room called out, "May I borrow your daughter for a moment?"

68. WITH THIS RING....
A young bride and groom to be had just selected the wedding ring. As the girl admired the plain platinum and diamond band, she suddenly looked concerned.

"Tell me," she asked the elderly salesman, "is there anything special I'll have to do to take care of this ring?"

With a fatherly smile, the salesman said, "One of the best ways to protect a wedding ring is to dip it in dishwater three times a day."

BIBLE TRIVIA

Elaborate court records...

... exist of many of the Pharaohs before and after the presumed time of Joseph, but none mention a Semite slave saving Egypt from famine. Drought and famine were fairly common at the time, but none that exactly match the Biblical description. So we still don't know who was Joseph's Pharaoh.

Seed of Faith Planted in ’83 Blossoms into Worship Center to Complement Existing Churches

The Worship Center by Steve Eastman, OpenHeaven.com TOP News

RALEIGH, NC - It may easily be mistaken for a mega-church. The Worship Center is a 32 thousand square-foot building that can seat over 12 hundred people. It even has a café and a hospitality room. On the other hand, the Worship Center has no pastor, no Sunday services and no membership. It doesn’t even solicit tithes. Joe Call did not get this concept from copying another ministry or doing a survey. It all began with an opportunity to purchase some undeveloped land in 1983 and what turned out to be a prophetic word from Derek Prince.

“We were in relationship with him, and asked, ‘Derek, would you pray about this property? We feel like we should buy the property.’ He said, ‘Call, I don’t need to pray. Buy the property.’ So, we’ve had the property since then and we’ve just been waiting on God to say what to do.”

Both the dream and the property lied dormant for over 20 years. Meanwhile the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area, also known as the Triangle, grew up, it seemed, around this plot of land. First developers built nearby Briar Creek Shopping Center off US-70. Alexander Place Shopping Center sprang up on the opposite side of 70. Housing developments took off as did additional flights from Raleigh Durham International Airport (RDU), just minutes away. About three or four years ago, Call was thinking about this when he received another word of divine guidance.

“The Lord said, ‘Build the building. I want to come and rest here.’ I said, ‘Lord, I can’t believe another building. We’ve got buildings every place.’ He said, ‘No. Here I want the building, and here I want to rest.’ And He said, ‘I want you to bring people who are hungry and thirsty to rest with Me.’ So that was our vision.”

It turned out to be a roughly $6 million-dollar vision, in terms of construction costs and related expenses. Call found himself meeting with municipal officials, as is usual with any major project that needs permits, approvals and, sometimes, special zoning. One of them wanted to know where the money was coming from.

“They said, ‘How many members are you going to have?’ I said, ‘None.’ They said, ‘Where are you going to get the money?’ I said, ‘I don’t know. God’s got the money. He’s got all the money. So we’re just going to depend on Him.’”

God did provide, through His people. When the worship Center opened a few weeks ago, there was no mortgage. God’s people, from about 20 churches so far, have also volunteered their time and skills for everything from cleaning bathrooms to providing music at special services.

“What we see is volunteers coming from 200 to 300 churches. People volunteer just because they want to help with what God is doing and they want to help jointly. They’re not looking at this guy’s a Methodist; this guy’s a Pentecostal. They’re just looking to be in the presence of God and host the presence of God.”

Call wants to build relationships with local churches, but that doesn’t mean renting the building to whoever has the money.

“The purpose is to keep it free. We can partner with people. They can say, ‘Listen Call, we would like to partner in this situation.’ If we get a good witness, we feel like these people are on our page as far as the power and anointing of God and want more; we sense the power and goodness of God and that they are hungry. We’ll say, ‘Come. Let’s partner together.’ If we just let somebody use it, then they just do what they want to do. If we come together, we begin relationships. We think that’s one of the most important things. Relationship will bring trust. Trust is going to bring unity, and unity is going to bring revival. And revival is going to bring the harvest.”

Although the Worship Center recently hosted a powerful three-day Miracle Crusade with Andres Bisonni, special speakers will be more the exception than the rule.

“Most of the time, it’s just going to be His presence. His presence brings everything we want. When we’re in His presence the power is so strong, the wisdom is so strong and the glory is over us. Once we’re in His presence, we can walk out to the world and people’s lives will be changed. It’s not what we say. It’s just the fact that we are now portraying His glory. His glory will bring healing, anointing, lives changed.”

Call wants to depend on God’s guidance, rather than doing something just because it may be working in other places.

“We’re open everyday, except Sunday. People say, ‘Is this 24-7?’ We don’t know. It could be. But that’s not the plan. The plan is to be led by the Spirit. If God says, ‘Open 24-7,’ then we’re open 24-7. We’re just going to wait on His presence. Whether it’s healing, deliverance or whatever God has in mind. Just let His presence flow to the people. It doesn’t have to be entertainment. We’re not here to entertain. There’s plenty of entertainment around. People don’t need any more entertainment. They just need to feel the presence and love of God. That is what we think is going to happen.”

One thing that Call is sure God has showed him is a chain reaction recipe for revival. He says having 200 industries within five minutes of the Worship Center is a crucial ingredient.

“We’re going to call it a praise lunch where people come from these industries. They’ll be touched mightily in 50 minutes. They’ll have five minutes to get here and five minutes to get back. In the 50 minutes they’ll have in the Worship Center, their lives will be changed mightily. I see it. I see it. I see it. They’re going to come in. Maybe they haven’t even met Jesus. They’re going to meet Him. They’re going to be baptized in the Holy Spirit. They’re going to be healed. They’re going to be restored. And they’re going back out of this door and into the door of their office building; and they’re going to a meeting, and in that board meeting or whatever kind of meeting it is, the power of God is going to pour out all over that office.”

Another crucial ingredient is that the Worship Center is within minutes of RDU airport.

“They’re going to get on a plane and go to Paris and go to Atlanta and go to New York and go to Tokyo and go to London, and they’re going to be so glorified, God’s power is going to be on them. Those people, who left us, two hours later they’re on a trip, they came from Paris and they’re going to the airport in Atlanta and, BOOM, the airport gets touched. They go from Atlanta to Paris and there at the airport, BAM, the Holy Spirit just touches everyone at the airport. This is revival that could happen all within minutes. They leave here at 1 o’clock and go back to the office. The whole boardroom is touched. Everybody in that board room boards a plane, five minutes away from the airport, from here, and they go to the other airports and, guess what, revival breaks out all over the world.”

Derek Prince is no longer alive to give Joe Call guidance, but Wade Taylor is.

“He had a burden, when he went to Washington, for a worship center. We hadn’t even talked (about this) before. I said, ‘Wade, that’s what we’ve had.’ He said he had a thought and a feeling that God wants to put a worship center in every capital city. Really, there’s room for a worship center. In New York, there’s room for ten worship centers. We need stadiums when the harvest begins. This is an equipping area. This is like a station for people to come equipped with His presence and glory. The harvest is going to come when those relationships are established, when trust is established, when community is established.”

WAXING LYRICAL

Just thinking that I hadn't written a poem for quite a while so had a go - before I forget how!

DAVID'S RAMBLINGS

Don't know what to write about.
Something that will have clout.
Should it be all about me?
No! Well - how about thee?

That might be intersting for we all like to hear about ourself,
Particularly it is nice and complementary, off the top shelf.
But the problem is that I don't know you personally, do you see,
So what can I say about you, not knowing if you're she or he!

Time is moving on,
Nearly time it is for bed,
The day is now gone,
The seconds, each has sped.

So what can I say that is of great note?
Before I have to leave, put on my coat.
Go out into the night and wend my way home,
In the darkness, to our wee abode to roam.

My wife Kathy, now she is not there.
Visiting her mother, do not despair,
She will be home tomorrow, I am so sure,
Returning from her travelling adventure.

So now I will go and cuddle the cat.
Oops - recall I can't now do that,
For she died some weeks ago - very sad.
So I'm all by myself; that's very bad.

But no, no, no! I do now remember!
Whether it be April or September,
I have my Jesus with me always you see,
So I wont be lonely, there's He and me.

I hope now, that's true for you too.
In the bed - even when on the loo!
He is a friend upon whom we all can rely,
When you are lonely, give Jesus a try.

A DAVID MUSING

Today, when I am writing this, is Sunday. Monday, our time, the day you will receive it, I will be leaving for Masterton at 5:30am, a town 220km from here, where we will be opening our 4th Seekers store. It has been a lot of work to get it to this stage - now we just need customers!

Busyness is both a virtue and a curse of our modern age. Busyness kills relationships when it takes over our lives. Generally the first relationship to go is that with Jesus. I am speaking to myself here!

Of course, some times are busier than others. That is part of the natural cycle of life. But may we never forget where our life comes from!

Must run!

Until next week...

MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOU BLESS GOD.

His servant and yours
