TWENTY-FIVE COMMANDMENTS OF JESUS

Not clearly numbered and listed, as in the Old Testament outward Law of the 10 Commandments, they are found among the teachings of Jesus in the 4 Gospels, and are available for all who have a heart to seek them.

We all too easily think, with the emphasis that Jesus places on love and forgiveness, that he didn't teach any absolutes. But, as can be seen here, Jesus did place boundaries on believer's behaviour, along with instructions for Godly living.

I have grouped these into 3 categories for easier comprehension.

Don't take my word for it! Study the Scriptures!

WHOSE CHURCH IS IT ANYWAY?

THE POST APOSTOLIC CHURCH

The major question now is, "where is the church of the 21st Century heading".

Fourteen years into the new century, it is becoming more apparent that God is 'doing a new thing'. But as we have seen over the past 2000 years, through the Dark Ages, the Reformation and the Holy Spirit revivals of the 20th century, the Holy Spirit will always be to the fore of what transpires.

Regrettably from a human perspective, all past movements of the Holy Spirit have come to an end, primarily because man has codified them and taken over. Like Moses, the world's humblest man and the closest to God before Jesus, when he hit the rock, (which he had done successfully before to bring water), rather than talk to it as God had instructed him to do,(Numbers 20:13) man has always seemingly known better than God. This cost Moses the opportunity to take the Israelites into the Promised Land.

So where do we go from here? What is God doing here and now, and into the future.

PRACTICAL KINGDOM LIVING

We will now have a look at some of the practical aspects, and differences, of kingdom living, as opposed to a church focus.

As I went through my email inbox this morning, I came across this article and was prompted to include it today.

In the church we are encouraged to rely upon leadership for spiritual guidance and impartation. In the kingdom, our reliance and attention is to become God focused.

IDENTIFYING BLOCKAGES TO MOVING WITH GOD

By Bill Click

This week, rather than a lengthy message on the depths of intercession, I want to offer you a litmus for determining how current you are with the Spirit of God. Basically, evaluating to what degree you can and do initiate the Covenant Jesus came to establish. While I realize that revelatory descriptions of the encounters we can experience with God can have great value, without embracing our status for taking part in them, they can become of no worth whatsoever.

It is clear to me there are 3 easily identifiable blockages to moving with God that everyone can either say: "that applies to me," or "I really don't have that problem." In fact, I really believe this will let you see your life in a new way as you continue to read.

They are:

I must be in a public gathering of anointed leaders to be able to sense and feel the Spirit of God.

If our lives so grieve the Spirit by the daily choices we make based on the life-priorities we set, then what is above may very well be our present status. God designed for each one to know Him in the Spirit, and to be able to sense His presence by their personal spirit.

"An hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth" (John.4:23-24).

We must be honest with God about what we are really seeking. Am I truly seeking the Kingdom of God, or is it God's endorsement for a life on my own terms in which I occasionally turn to God for assistance? (Mt.6:33)

I must receive prayer from others before I am freed from dilemmas that rise up and remain unresolved in my mind, will and emotions.

The Lord gave us His Spirit so that we could fight the good fight of faith by donning His armor and thinking with His mind (Eph.6:10-18; 1Cor.2:9-16). Lies from Hell, soulish raging against the Spirit by our own (or others) unrenewed minds, emotional ties with the fears of loved ones or the railings of societal ills….they will continue (John.16:33). The key to being able to discern what God is saying and doing can be summarized by what Jesus said:

"If anyone is willing to do His will, he will know of the teaching, whether it is of God or whether I speak from Myself" (John.7:17).

When we really want what God wants for us, we know what to receive, reject, stand on, or rebuke and kick away from us

I must be ministered to by others (activated or imparted to publicly) before I feel able, worthy or confident to pray for others effectively.

For us to be "living up to what we have already attained," we must develop and discipline ourselves to "maintain and sustain" our reservoir of functionality as members of the Body of Christ (Php.3:16). If the previous sentence only applies to ministers (in your thinking), then you either need to realign yourself with those who will equip and release you to flow in the Spirit, or you need to shake off the old religious wineskin that is preventing your mind from being renewed. The Lord has made it clear:

"to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good….one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills" (1Corinthians 12:7, 11). Jesus said: "you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth" (Acts 1:8).

Use the tools God has given you. Don't mourn what doesn't yet seem to be, or let the soul realm take you to places in your mind, will and emotions that will prevent you from entering and walking in the Spirit.

Rise up in what He has given you which is yours forever, and move about in it as land that belongs to you and only you. Take ownership of the deposit He has placed in you and only you. And as you do, you won't need to go to church to get refreshed, renewed, freed or activated, you'll go with a testimony of how you have been in the presence all week.

Then, you won't need to be prayed over, you'll either be promoted in the house or booted out of the house by God or those who don't want life, and you'll take it with you wherever you go. Then, you'll be living the life of witness you've been called to and completely empowered for.

Selah.

So we can continue to say.....

THE TRUE FOLLOWERS OF JESUS ARE ONES WHO ARE OBEDIENT TO THE LEADING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN THEIR LIVES.

FROM THE WORD

THE WORDS OF JESUS continued

The Lord has asked me to compile a publication of the words Jesus spoke, as recorded in the New Testament in chronological order.

Of course, it is not a Bible substitute! I Hope you find it helpful too, in your walk with Jesus.

Jesus Final Appeal to Unbelievers (John 12:20-36)
Prior to His death.

“The time has come for the Son of man to be glorified. I tell you the truth: unless a grain of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains just one grain. But if it dies, it produces many more grains of wheat. If you love your own life you will lose it, but if you don’t love your own life in this world you will keep your life forever. If you want to serve me you need to follow me. My servants will be where I am, and my Father will honor anyone who serves for me.
”Now I am troubled. What should I say? ‘Father, save me from this coming time of suffering’? No, for this
is why I came—to go through this time of suffering. Father, show the glory of your character.”

Prior to His death.

“This voice spoke not for my sake, but for yours. Now is the judgment of this world; now the prince of this world will be thrown out. But when I am lifted up from the earth I will attract everyone to me.” (He said this to point out the kind of death he was going to die).

The crowd asked, “Who is the Son of man?”

“The light is here with you for a little longer. Walk while you have the light so that the darkness doesn’t overtake you. Those who walk in the dark don’t know where they’re going. Put your trust in the light while you still have it so that you can become children of light.”

The Jews Continue to Reject Jesus (John 12:37-50)
In spite of His miracles.

“If you trust in me you’re not just trusting in me but also in the one who sent me. When you see me you’re seeing the one who sent me. I have come as a light shining into the world, so if you trust in me you won’t remain in the dark. I don’t judge anyone who hears my words but doesn’t do what I say. I came to save the world, not to judge it. Anyone who rejects me and does not accept my words will be judged at the endtime judgment in accordance with what I have said. For I’m not speaking for myself but for my Father who sent me. He is the one who instructed me what to say and how to say it. I know that what he told me to say brings eternal life—so whatever I say is what the Father told me.”

Preparations for the Passover (Matthew 26:17-19, Mark 14:12-16, Luke 22:7-13)
Instructions to Peter and John.

“Go and prepare the Passover meal, so we can eat it together.”
“When you enter the city you’ll meet a man carrying a jar of water. Follow him and go into the house he enters. Tell the owner of the house, ‘The Teacher asks you, “Where is the dining room where I can eat the Passover with my disciples?”’ He’ll show you a large upstairs room that already has the necessary furniture. Prepare the meal there.”

DAVID'S DOODLINGS

CHARACTER

1089. Character to a Christian is as water to a ship. Without it we are left high and dry!

1090. To be as one with the character of Jesus is our highest call.

1091. To believe in Jesus is wonderful, but to develop His character, divine.

1092. Many say, "Lord, give me faith." But I say "Lord help me develop my character" and faith will automatically come.

1093. It is easy to believe, but a godly character reflects the true disciple.

1094. Our character is truly visible in the reflection of our love for God and for others.

1095. Rather than asking God for gifts, develop character, and gifts will automatically follow.

1096. A sin forgiven is of the moment, but developing godly character lasts a lifetime.

1097. The only proven way to avoid sin is to develop the character of Jesus in our lives.

1098. Character is 'walking the talk.'

THE WORLD'S GREATEST PROBLEM!!!!! (Next to not knowing Jesus)

A SUMMARY OF WHAT WE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT OUR BODY AND FOOD.

Per Dr Grant Schofield.

1. Being hungry slows our metabolism and makes it harder to lose weight and keep it off. Our body is super-efficient at storing fat and slowing down when we are hungry. (How we survive famine.)

2. Protein fills us up and takes lots of energy and time to digest. Simple carbohydrates like sugar and white breads do not.

3. Eating refined carbohydrates can leave us feeling hungrier than when we started. and may block the 'off-switch' in our brain that tells us to stop eating when we are full.

4. Simple sugar (ie table sugar) can act more like fat in our body than fat itself, because of the way it is metabolised in our liver.

5. Simple sugar can be addictive, acting on the brain in the same way as addictive drugs.

6. The best food for keeping us full and delivering everything we need is a combination of high quality protein and vegetables. Simply put, we can eat pretty much as much as we like of these.

"If you only had Tiger Woods' length, if you only had Tiger Woods' length. Let me tell you something, Buster, the only thing that having Tiger Woods' length would mean to your game is that you'd be able to hit the ball that much farther into the woods!"

UK: Churches in London see 16% growth

The Church in London has been put on a growth path. One in nine Londoners now go to church, and church attendance in the capital has grown by 16% in the past seven years. This significant turn-around is reported by the Financial Times. Anglican mega churches like Holy Trinity Brompton (home of Alpha) and St Helen’s Bishopsgate account for the growth, as well as Hillsong, a mega church from Australia. This success is matched by a plethora of African Pentecostal movements, including the Nigerian Kingsway International Christian Centre and Kensington Temple. Research by academics at Cranmer Hall, a theological college in Durham, entitled ‘Church Growth in Britain from 1980 to the Present’ revealed that there are 500,000 Christians in black majority churches in Britain. Sixty years ago there were hardly any. At least 5,000 new churches have been started in Britain since 1980 - and this is an undercount, the true figure is probably higher.

A DAVID MUSING

(HALF)WIT OR WISDOM?

Today, I have some time,
So, 'why not a rhyme?'
A very good idea indeed,
For brain work I need.

But what will I write about?
Something with some clout!
Or something simple, so not the brain to strain,
Yet still, a modicum of intelligence to feign.

The decision will be yours as to which way I went,
Whether philosophy or simplicity is my bent.
For I have no idea what may now come forth,
Be it at first attempt, or the fourth! (sorry, nothing else rhymes with 'forth')

I was born on the 'fourth' of July you see,
A very special day, both for America and me.
For if, at that time, I had not been born,
My birth could now be treated with scorn!

But instead, I get fireworks every year,
Something I love, let me make clear,
But I live in the wrong country, I now do remember,
For in New Zealand, 'cracker night' is 5 November!

Now that information is all but by the by,
To get serious I will now earnestly try.....
.....
.....

I can't!

So if you have got this far,
Expecting wisdom from afar,
You will be most disappointed,
For today I am not anointed!

I trust that my inspiration will one day return,
(If I have sufficient brain cells left to burn!)
In the meantime I say 'goodbye',
Please believe it - I did try!

So until next week.....

MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOU BLESS GOD

His servant and yours

David Tait
