‘THE RAPTURE’ - SATAN’S PLAN OF DECEPTION WITHIN TODAY’S CHURCH (Part 4)

SCRIPTURES NEGATING RAPTURE THEORY Continued

Continuing with more verses refuting the rapture theory…..

34 ‘Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you suddenly like a trap. 35 For it will come on all those who live on the face of the whole earth. 36 Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape (literally ‘strength to pass through’) all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.’ (Luke 24:31-6)

Reality is, not taught very much these days, that we will suffer for being a Christian! Peter, as it turned out, experienced this, ultimately to death, by tradition being crucified at Rome, upside down at his own request, for he considered himself to be unworthy to be crucified in the same way as Jesus. He explained Jesus’ followers suffering…..

Suffering for being a Christian

12 Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. 13 But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. 14 If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. 15 If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler. 16 However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name. 17 For it is time for judgment to begin with God’s household; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God? 18 And, ‘If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?’ 19 So then, those who suffer according to God’s will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good. (1 Peter 4:12-19)

Sobering words!

The passage applies to all Christians through the ages, who have been persecuted for the sake of Jesus, but more specifically to us, in the end times, as we wait the judgement of the last day…..

5 All this is evidence that God’s judgment is right, and as a result you will be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering. 6 God is just: he will pay back trouble to those who trouble you 7 and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels. 8 He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. ((2 Thessalonians 1:5-8)

It is a time not to be feared, for the Lord will enable his disciples to endure it…..

13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. (1 Corinthians 10:13)

Yes, we will be tested but the way out of these terrible times is not through the rapture, but through the Lord being with us…..

And everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved; for on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be deliverance, as the LORD has said, even among the survivors whom the LORD calls (Joel 2:32)

And from the New Testament…..

And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Acts 2:21)

Jesus is with those who fully follow Him. He will protect us through the turmoil…..

7 Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. 8 He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.(1 Corinthians 1:7-9)

The judgement comes upon all who live upon the earth, first the Jews, then us all…..

29 See, I am beginning to bring disaster on the city that bears my Name, and will you indeed go unpunished? You will not go unpunished, for I am calling down a sword on all who live on the earth, declares the LORD Almighty.” (Jeremiah 25:29)

We are called to trust in the Lord as we move through the times until the Lord returns…..

“If anyone is to go into captivity, into captivity they will go. If anyone is to be killed[a] with the sword, with the sword they will be killed.” This calls for patient endurance and faithfulness on the part of God’s people. (Revelation 13:10)

I will finish today with the verse on which Walking With Jesus Ministries is based, for it calls upon all his sold out disciples to be prepared to die, spiritually and/or physically for Saviour and Lord. The way in which satan (v.10) can be overcome is …..

They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death. (Revelation 12:11)

I trust that we may all understand now why satan is so keen to ‘sell’ the dream of the rapture, for it gives an excuse for the saints not to be concerned with living lives of full submission to the Lord, expecting to be raptured before the final time of trial and testing comes. For that is the deception satan desires, for as Revelation 12:11 says, only a fully sold out life to Jesus will overcome his wiles.

(Continued next week)

FROM THE WORD

THE WORDS OF JESUS

May we hear what the Lord is saying to us.

Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5:1-7:29, Luke 6:17-49)
The primary ‘life teachings’ of Jesus.

When Giving to the Needy (Matthew 6:1-4)

“Make sure not to do your good deeds in front of people, just so they can be seen. Otherwise you won’t have any reward from your Father in heaven. When you give to the poor, don’t be like the hypocrites who blow their own trumpets to announce what they’re doing in the synagogues and in the streets so that people will praise them. I tell you the truth: they already have their reward. When you give to the poor, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand’s doing. That way what you give will be in secret, and your Father who sees what happens in secret will reward you.

Prayer (Matthew 6:5-15)

“When you pray, don’t be like the hypocrites, for they love to stand up and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners so that people can see them. I promise you, they have already got their reward. But you, when you pray, go indoors and close the door, and pray to your Father in private, and your Father who sees what happens in private will reward you. When you pray, don’t babble on meaninglessly like the foreigners do, who think they will be heard because of all the words they repeat. Don’t be like them, for your Father knows what you need even before you ask him. So pray like this:

“Our heavenly Father, may your name be honored. May your kingdom come! May your will be carried out in earth as it is in heaven. Please give to us today the food we need. Forgive our sins, just as we have forgiven those who have sinned against us. Don’t let us be tempted to do wrong, and save us from the Evil One.

“For if you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you don’t forgive those who sin against you, then your heavenly Father won’t forgive your sins.

Fasting (Matthew 6:16-18)

“When you fast, don’t be like the hypocrites who put on sad faces and make themselves look terrible so that everyone can see they’re fasting. Instead, when you fast, wash your face and look smart, so that people won’t see you’re fasting, and your unseen Father who sees what happens in private will reward you.

BOOK OF THE WEEK

SERMON ON THE MOUNT THE KINGDOM WAY

JESUS’ GUIDE TO LIVING THE KINGDOM LIFESTYLE TODAY

We look at the Bible, and sometimes it overwhelms us – or it does me! How can I extract from all the vast wisdom it contains, the principles for living a kingdom lifestyle today?

I couldn’t! So I asked the lord what was the answer to me seeking! A very sensible thing to do when in this situation, don’t you think? And He showed me! A brilliant summary of kingdom living is contained in just 3 chapters of the Bible, Matthew chapters 5-7, in what we know as the ‘Sermon on the Mount’.

Then He proceeded to explain to me what they mean, and this is what I am sharing with you now. May you be challenged, encouraged and built up in living for the Lord as I have been in bringing it to you, through both exposition and my personal experiences, both good and bad.

DAVID'S DOODLINGS

RELIGION, REVELATION AND GOD'S KINGDOM

1022. Religion revolves round organisation, the kingdom of God, relationship.

1023. Religion is planned, God's kingdom, spontaneous.

1024. God's kingdom is visionary, religion, managed.

1025. Religion is birthed in the institutionalisation of a revelation of God's kingdom.

1026. 'God given' revelation quickly becomes 'man controlled' religion.

1027. God's kingdom is eternal, mankind's religion, transitory.

1028. Religion formalises the spontaneous informality of God's kingdom.

1029. God's kingdom 'upskills', religion removes the 'ups'.

1030. Religion is really 'the opiate of the priests'.

1031. To get closer to God we need to swap the bonds of religion for the liberation of His kingdom.

LAUGHING AT OURSELVES

***Blessed are those who can laugh at themselves for they shall never cease to be amused***

*** Those who can't laugh at themselves leave the job to others. ***

401. A SMALL BOY'S PRAYER
"Dear God, I hope you take care of yourself. 'Cause if anything happens to you, we would all be in a terrible mess."

400. A MATTER OF PRIORITY
Jerry was walking along the street, when he passed by a Catholic Church and noticed smoke pouring out of the building. Jerry ran inside, and yelled to the Priest, "Father, Father!! Your Church is on Fire!" The Priest grabbed the New Testament, and ran out.

A little farther up the road, Jerry was passing a Jewish Synagogue. Smoke was pouring out of the building. Jerry ran inside. "Rabbi, Rabbi!! Your building is on fire!", he cried. The Rabbi grabbed the Old Testament and ran out.

A little farther down, Jerry came to a liberal church. It too was on fire. Jerry rushed inside. "Minister, Minister!!" yelled Jerry, "Your Church is on fire!" The minister grabbed the coffeepot and ran out.

399. GET UP FOR CHURCH!
A mother called her son one Sunday morning, to get out of bed and get ready for Church.

He replied "I'm not going."

His mother said "Yes you are going, so get out of that bed!"

The son replied "Give me ONE good reason why I should go."

The Mother said, "I'll give you THREE good reasons...

1. I'm your mother, and I say you're going.

2. You're 40 years old, so old enough to know better.

3. You're the Pastor, so you need to be there."

FACTS FOR FUN

LAST WEEKS QUESTION: What infamous Countess was a mass murderer?

ANSWER: Countess Elizabeth Bathory of Hungary, known as the ‘Blood Countess’, is reputed to have killed hundreds of young girls as a sadistic pastime. Elizabeth was able to kill the girls, mostly peasants from the surrounding countryside with impunity for many years, because of her noble station. Legends say she believed that by bathing in her victim's blood, she would stay young forever. There is, however, no real evidence that she did this. Eventually, her crimes reached such a magnitude that her "cousin" Count Thurzo, ordered by the King and Church officials to act, saw to it that Elizabeth was walled into her castle to live out her final days in isolation. Her accomplices, mostly servants, were executed. Some scholars speculate that Bram Stoker, author of Dracula, based his legendary vampire in part on Elizabeth (as well as another sadistic killer - Vlad the Impaler). (An actual ‘bloodbath’!)

THIS WEEK'S QUESTION: Is it true that the yo-yo was based on a weapon?

SOME FUN FACTS

318. MUCH READING
There is a house in Rockport Massachusetts, USA, built entirely of newspaper. The Paper House at Pigeon Cove, as it is called, is made of 215 thicknesses of newspaper. (Nothing is as old as yesterday’s news.)

319. AN EXPENSIVE DRIP
A dripping hot water faucet wastes an average of 40 kilowatt-hours of electricity per month. This is the equivalent of running a colour television 8 hours a day for about 31 days. (Avoid the violence though!)

320. MILES HIGH
A cumulonimbus cloud can be gigantic! Six miles (10km) across and eleven miles (17.5 km) high, which is twice as high as Mount Everest! (Not just your average fluffy cloud!)

Christians Must Confront Culture With a 'Hard Head, Soft Heart,' Benham Brothers Say

BY MICHAEL GRYBOSKI , CHRISTIAN POST REPORTER
October 27, 2016

For Christians to transform the culture, they must have "hard heads" and "soft hearts," according to twin brothers David and Jason Benham.

In a video posted on their Facebook page on Tuesday, the Benham brothers spoke about how "courageous transformers confront culture."

"If we as faithful Christians are going to connect properly with culture, we've got to do it with a hard head and a soft heart," said David. "A hard head toward principle, yet with a soft heart toward people."

Jason added that during a recent conversation the brothers had with Dallas-based Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship Pastor Tony Evans about how one can define love, Evans responded that love is "compassion with standards."

"That's what it is, and in today's cultural context we see Christians who are really good on the compassion side, but not so good on the standard side," said Jason. "And then you got folks who are good on the standard side but not the compassion side."

"We love all people, but God does not love all ideas. And when we go out there and we erect a standard with a heart of compassion then people can see love on display. That's what our culture needs today more than ever."

In 2014, the Benham Brothers gained national attention when their planned HGTV reality series was cancelled over their expressed support for socially conservative causes and their opposition to gay marriage.

The LGBT activist group GLAAD protested the Benham Brothers having a program on HGTV and successfully lobbied to have the show cancelled.

"HGTV has decided not to move forward with the Benham Brothers' series," HGTV announced on Twitter in May 2014.

Since then, the twin brothers have spoken at various socially conservative events, talking about their experiences of being cancelled for their beliefs.

They also had a book published in February 2015 titled Whatever the Cost: Facing Your Fears, Dying to Your Dreams, and Living Powerfully.

David's and Jason's comments on Facebook come just days after the two denounced LGBT activist efforts against North Carolina because the state passed a law that bars men who identify as female from going into women's bathrooms and vice versa; thus requiring people to use facilities that are designed and equipped to best serve their needs based on their birth sex.

"They basically bullied him (Gov. McCrory), and like the mob, said that 'if you don't overturn HB2, we are going to go after professional athletics, we are going to go after businesses, and we will boycott North Carolina, and we will destroy you,'" the brothers said.

"And they said 'we are going to destroy you, we are going to destroy your state, and then we are going to take the victory and go all across this nation.'"

WALKING WITH JESUS

What to write about this amazing verse! Where do I start? When the Lord
first gave me the verse to start this ministry, I had only the 29 words it
contains. A very limited ministry in prospect!

But I am happy, or sorry, to say, depending upon your perspective, that the
problem I now have is what to leave out! For the Holy Spirit, over a period
of 18 months, gave me the 12 tape, 3 booklet, 30-hour 'Walking With Jesus
Course' all based on this one verse. You may well think that I am verbose.
Believe me, I am generally a man of few words, so no one was more
surprised than I was, with the end result. Fortunately, it can’t have all been
bad, as many thousands of people have had their understanding grow and
life change through this course.

For our purposes here, I promise you I will try and confine myself to a
brief summary. This verse is so exciting though, it is really hard to!
Discipline yourself David! But by grasping the basic principles of this
amazing verse we will better understand what the Bible is all about. For its
purpose is effectively summed up in these brief, 29 words!

Let's find out how!

WAXING LYRICAL

On Friday, when I was having a difficult day, the Lord gave me Psalm 23, personalized from Him to me! And you too!

PSALM 23

I am your shepherd, you lack nothing.
I make you lie down in green pastures,
I lead you beside quiet waters,
I refresh your soul.
I guide you along the right paths for My name’s sake.

Even though you walk through the darkest valley,
You will fear no evil, for I am with you;
My rod and my staff, they comfort you.

I prepare a table before you in the presence of your enemies.
I anoint your head with oil; your cup overflows.

My goodness and love will follow you all the days of your life,
and surely, you will dwell in My house forever.
