DAVID AND KATHY ARE SHIFTING TO KENYA TO LIVE! Part 7

Six weeks ago, I said that my wife Kathy and myself were shifting to Webuye, in Western Kenya, to live on a long term basis, from mid-2017.

FROM THE COMMUNITY TO THE WORLD

We are pleased to be able to announce this week, the launch of our new website AN EYE 4 AFRICA. Please take the time to have a look to see where the Lord has led us, and what He is leading us to do.

Our prayer is that you will be inspired, in 3 ways.....

1. IN WHAT THE LORD IS DOING ON THE COMPOUND IN WEBUYE: The website gives a comprehensive past, present and future overview of how the Lord is building His kingdom in this location. It is amazing how His ways are greater than ours! Kathy and I expected to answer the call to Webuye by renting a house in the area and working out what would happen from there. Instead, He has made available to us a 6 acre compound with amazing facilities to live in, along with David and Selina, whom He called us, 4 years ago, to work with.....

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8-9)

Thank you Lord!

2. PARTICIPATION IN THE LORD'S WORK HERE: This work is not the work of the two David's, Selina and Kathy. It is God's work in which all are invited to participate, whether it be by praying, encouraging, visiting, and/or financial, as the Lord leads.

Imitating Christ’s Humility

Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.(Philippians 2:1-2)

We invite you to be one in the Spirit with us as we proceed.

3. BE ENCOURAGED TO PURSUE YOUR GOD GIVEN VISIONS: God works in many different ways, so I don't want to be dogmatic here. But I do wish to share some of my experience and observations as I have traveled.

My experience has been that God will give you a heart for a general area or type of mission. Personally, in my worldwide travels over the years, I developed a special place in my heart for Africans, rather than say Europeans or Asians, or any other people group. God was preparing me, but had not called me yet to anything specific, in that regard. At the time His calling was to share the kingdom in the places I traveled to, while remaining located in New Zealand.

Then, 4 years ago, came the specific call to Webuye in Kenya. I have explained previously how that took the four years to come to fruition. As it was for Jesus, so it is for us.....

6 Therefore Jesus told them, “My time is not yet here; for you any time will do. 7 The world cannot hate you, but it hates me because I testify that its works are evil. 8 You go to the festival. I am not going up to this festival, because my time has not yet fully come.” 9 After he had said this, he stayed in Galilee.(John 7:6-9)

As it was for Jesus, so it is for us. We need to wait for His timing.

The matter of observation for me, particularly in poorer countries (financially - not in the Spirit) I have visited, is that nearly all pastors have a vision to build a big church building, an orphanage and a Bible school. While there are needs for these in the communities, I cannot accept that they are all God given visions. Rather are the pastors visions! Sadly, nearly every pastor wants a big church building, everywhere in the world it seems! But the kingdom of God is not found in a building.....

20 Once, on being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, “The coming of the kingdom of God is not something that can be observed, 21 nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the kingdom of God is in your midst.” (within you KJV) (Luke:17:20-21)

There are other more cost, and people, effective ways. Rather than build orphanages, perhaps it is better to place orphans in homes in the community. And with Bible schools, teach in homes with small groups of students, relating one on one to each other.

But everybody wants buildings!

Treasures in Heaven

19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. (Matthew 6:18-20)

Rather seek God for His specific task for you. Let Him open the doors, and when the call comes, be obedient to it. It may not come in a flash of lightening, but God will make the way for you, when it His calling. We simply need to be open and obedient when it comes.....

22 But Samuel replied:

“Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams. (1 Samuel 15:22)

May the Lord's special presence be with you today as you seek HIS WILL for your life.

Continued next week.

FROM THE WORD

THE WORDS OF JESUS

May we hear what the Lord is saying to us.

Jesus Calms the Storm (Matthew 8:23-7, Mark 4:35-41, Luke 8:22-5)
hen travelling to the other side of the lake.

“Let’s go across to the other side of the Sea.”

When the storm came and the disciples woke Jesus.

“Be quiet! Be still.”
“Why are you so frightened? Haven’t you learned to trust me?”

There Heals a Demon-possessed Man (Matthew 8:28-34, Mark 5:1-20, Luke 8:26-39)
Jesus talking to the evil spirits.

“What is your name?”

Legion, meaning many. The man begs to go with Jesus.

“Go home to your own people, and tell them everything the Lord has done for you and how he has been merciful to you.”

Healing the Sick Woman (Matthew 9:20-22, Mark 5:24-34, Luke 8:42-8)
In a crowd.

“Who touched me?”
“Someone touched me,” Jesus replied. “I know because power went out from me.”
“Daughter, your trust has healed you, go in peace.”

Healing Jairus’ Daughter (Matthew 9:23-6, Mark 5:35-43, Luke 8:49-56)
When Jarius was told his daughter was dead.

“Don’t be afraid, just trust in me.”

When he got to the home of Jarius.

“Why are you making such a commotion with all this crying? The little girl isn’t dead, she’s just sleeping.”
“Talitha koum,” (which means, “Little girl, get up!”)

Healing Two Blind Men (Matthew 9:27-31)
In another place.

“Are you convinced that I’m able to do this?”
“Because of your trust in me it will happen!”
“Make sure nobody knows about this.”

BOOK OF THE WEEK

THE PURGING OF THE CHURCH:
A CHURCH WITHOUT SPOT OR WRINKLE, A PEOPLE WITH CLEAN HANDS AND A PURE HEART, PREPARED AND WAITING FOR THE RETURN OF JESUS

The Lord led me to go back to a sermon/prophecy I received in a group mailing, and filed, some time ago. It is by David Wilkerson.

David was the Founding Pastor of Times Square Church in New York City. He was called to New York in 1958 to minister to gang members and drug addicts, as told in the best-selling book, The Cross and the Switchblade.

After the introduction, he gave 11 bullet points about THE GLORIOUS FUTURE JUST AHEAD. As the Lord leads, I will expand on these challenging but inspiring aspects.
New Testament Scriptures are taken from the FREE BIBLE MINISTRY (http://www.freebibleversion.org) And Old Testament quotations from the NIV.

DAVID'S DOODLINGS

HEAVENLY TRUTHS GOD HAS SHOWN ME

739. - 809. God has shown me that...

... to go down is to go up.

... He can do it better than me.

... to strive is to ensure failure.

... to rest in Him brings success.

... it is better to give in to Him the first time.

... I need to be broken before being restored.

... repentance benefits me even more than the one I have wronged.

... the nearer I get to Him, the further away I find I really am.

... fear of the Lord is positive, not negative.

... the more I fear Him, the more He loves me.

... the more I fear Him, the more I am prepared to change my life.

... the fear and love of Him are intertwined.

438. 7 REASONS WHY THE AVERAGE CHRISTIAN CANNOT PLAY BASEBALL
### Doesn't practice all week, but expects to start on game day.
### Gets upset when every ball that's hit doesn't come directly to him.
### Never swings at a pitch because, "This pitcher doesn't throw like the last pitcher. The game's just not the same since he left."
### Wants to run home before going to first base.
### Chatters in order to keep his own teammates from hitting the ball.
### Doesn't come to the game unless the coach personally calls him on the phone, each week, and invites him to show up.
### Worries the game will last so long, that the concession stand will be closed before it's over.

Pope Francis Willing to Allow Married Men to Become Priests Amid Clergy Shortage

CHRISTIAN POST REPORTER
Mar 10, 2017 | 1:13 PM

Pope Francis said Thursday that he's open to the idea of ordaining married men to serve as priests in remote areas suffering from priest shortages.

It was unclear Friday, however, what impact this discussion will have on the United States, which is also experiencing a shortage of priests.

In an interview published Thursday with Germany's Die Zeit, Francis said while removing the celibacy rule is not the answer to the Catholic Church's priest shortage, he was open to studying whether "viri probati" — or married men of proven faith — could be ordained.

"We must consider if viri probati is a possibility. Then we must determine what tasks they can perform, for example, in remote communities," he was quoted as saying.

The pontiff told the publication that a shortage of priests had become an "enormous problem," and noted that the first response must be prayer combined with a more intense focus on "working with young people who are seeking orientation."

The shortage, he said, weakens the Church "because a Church without the Eucharist doesn't have strength — the Church makes the Eucharist, but the Eucharist also makes the Church."

He further asked that the discussion on married priests be faced "fearlessly."

"Fears close doors, freedom opens them, and even when [the space for] liberty is small, it opens a window," he said.

According to ABC, the "viri probati" proposal has been around for decades, but it has drawn fresh attention in recent years due to Pope Francis' appreciation of the challenges facing the church in places like Brazil, a huge Catholic country with an acute shortage of priests.

The Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate at Georgetown University highlights data that shows the Catholic Church has been increasingly turning to Africa and Asia to find priests to staff its parishes in the U.S., Europe and other parts of the world because it's now struggling to find native priests.

The Christian Post reached out the several Catholic archdioceses as well as the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops for comment on the discussion Friday and many were either not prepared to comment on the development or were unable to respond in time for this report.

Patricia Garcia, a lifelong Catholic and an administrative worker at the Corpus Christi Catholic Church in New York City told CP Friday that she agrees with the pope's approach and noted that the shortage of priests was not just an issue for remote areas.

"I didn't even know this but I agree," said Garcia. "Working at a church and working regularly with the priest I see that we don't have as many priests. Especially this church, we only have one priest, the pastor.

"Things are not the same as they used to be. It's not that your beliefs change. It doesn't mean that my belief as a Catholic has changed. A lot of people are not doing like before [when] they would go into priesthood. There's a lot of churches and not that many priests to go around to service the area," she said.

"As long as they are married and they have all their sacraments. It's a good idea if you look at it with an open mind. But if you want to be stuck in the old ages, how it used to be, we can't be stuck there because that's not how we're living right now. Unfortunately, everything has changed. We can't have it every way we want it. We are moving on in trying to help each other as well," she added.

Francis said while he favors a celibate priesthood, celibacy technically can be up for discussion since it's a discipline of the Church, not a dogma.

Crux notes that most Catholic priests are expected to remain celibate, although Catholicism does include 23 Eastern churches in full communion with Rome whose clergy are allowed to marry.

There are also a few hundred former Protestant ministers in the U.S., who've entered the Catholic Church as married men and permitted to remain married after being ordained as Catholic priests.

Responding to other questions in his most recent interview, the pontiff said he was also concerned about the rise of populism in the West and called it "evil."

"Populism is evil and ends badly, as the past century has shown," he said, arguing that it is a means of "using the people" by offering them a messiah.

COMPUTERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mine stopped dead this week, so I reincarnated it with a new power pack. Sadly the extra power affected something else, so it has finally gone to computer heaven (I hope!).

Then came the challenge of setting myself up on Kathy's laptop, while I wait to acquire a new (reconditioned second hand) one. New skills acquired, which will be promptly lost if I dont (hopefully) have to use them again any time in the near future! Memory! What was that? Certainly out of my comfort zone!

Adding a second screen, to allow me to more easily cut and paste was another challenge overcome. In the end I was quite proud of what I had managed to do in a world into which I dont normally venture! LOL!

Now I just have to set up the printer, but that is something Ican do.

Change, change, change! Getting outside of our comfort zone! Something God is calling us to all of the time - but we all too often ignore Him!

Kathy and I certainly our going to experience radical change when we move to Kenya. May God see us through.

You can check us out at where we are going and what we will be doing at AN EYE 4 AFRICA.

How about God inspired change in your life?

Until next week.......

MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOU BLESS GOD.
